Customer Reviews
First off this is my first Tablet (although i have played around with all the ones available in the states) and for the price i paid i am very happy.
Build Quality 9/10- better then expected. a few creeks but that's all, feels much more expensive then it is and the plastic feels pricey in hand
hardware 9/10 - has a micro USB (that can host((plug in a thumb drive)) and charge) micro SD up to 32gb (tested up to 4gb)3.5mm headphone jack, works great. charging port. complaints here are that the charging port and headphone jack look exactly the same and is really easy to plug one thing in to the wrong port. (also wish there was a full USB port)
Screen 10/10 - major factor here it has the same resolution as the big players 7"ers out there (samsung, acer) its very reactive to touch(only thing holding it back is the launcher more on that later)
UI 5/10 stock 10/10 later its android 4.0 - out of the box this unit lags way more then is tolerable, search youtube for ainol elf and youll see videos showing this. this is mostly to blame on the launcher. to fix this is easy enough, download Nova launcher (Google Nova launcher xda) with this there is next to no lag at all which is amazing.
Battery life - the only "test" that i have done is daily use where screen was set to minimum and sound less then 50% at the end of the day i was at 38% left i had used it with the screen on for around 6 hours half of which was with wifi on. (the only difference you might see is that i was under clocked to 600mhz where as stock it comes at 1008 mhz.
Speakers 5/10 - compared to my laptops its terrible. compared to my phone its alright. its loud but not amazing.
hers an easy spec list.
Allwinner A10 (a cortex A8 clocked at 1ghz)
1 gig of DDR3 RAM (670mb available)
5gb of usable internal storage
5 point touch 1025x600
1 speaker (no stereo)
in comparison to the kindle fire its at least on par if not a little better. it has a micro sd slot so it can have more then the fires 8gb, 1 gig of ram to the fires 512mb and it comes stock with vanilla android 4.0, unlike the fire that comes with a modified android 2.3 (is upgrade able to 4.0 after rooting. where the fire beats the elf is with its dual core processor, its got a warranty that's held in the USA.
there yeah have it

I ordered one of these from another website. As is often written I was not expecting a $600 Ipad for less than $200.
What I got:
My first challenge was it started up in chinese character. The ainol website gives instructions on how to change the language under FAQ. Pay close attention to the pictures.
The second challenge is most of the pre-loaded apps are in chinese. One browser supports english. From there you just need to find non google apps to download. While the ads would lead you to believe the device is supported by the google android market, it ain't so. Up until I got this device I could not even spell android much less appreciate what it does.
Where am I now:
I own an Ipod touch 4th gen. I wanted a larger screen. I got a larger screen and the multi-touch function is similar to the Ipod touch. After three days I have found and been able to install most of the functions (apps) I had on the Ipod, some from Amazon some from other websites. I am not a power user so I am sure there are things people would like to do that this device won't do, but so far I think I found an excellent value.
So far the only way I have found to control the volume is in the settings menu. I will probably just buy a set of earbuds with volume control in the cord.
